Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, offering intensive respiratory care and patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. The therapist evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans, explaining the purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients, and providing necessary education upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed respiratory treatments, operating various ventilatory equipment and devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography as per policy.
• Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist with respiratory care-related procedures.
• Manage tracheostomy care and perform arterial puncture as required.
• Maintain documentation of treatments and communicate pertinent information during shift changes.
• Provide CPR and operate mechanical ventilation equipment, ensuring compliance with standards and policies.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Candidates must possess appropriate licensure and certifications in respiratory therapy, reflecting competence in conducting various therapeutic and diagnostic assessments as outlined in the responsibilities.
