Nights, 3 × 12 hr shifts, totaling 36 hours per week. Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday.

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist assesses patients' respiratory care needs based on various data, plans and evaluates treatment modalities, and optimizes patient and family experiences through effective communication and care strategies.

Responsibilities

• Consistently perform and document thorough patient assessments.
• Establish appropriate care plans and communicate effectively with the patient care team.
• Perform and document routine therapeutic modalities including aerosolized medications, secretion management, and oxygen therapy.
• Initiate and manage mechanical ventilators according to established protocols.
• Provide appropriate, age-specific patient and family education regarding disease management.
• Assist in intra-hospital transport of mechanically ventilated patients and manage acute airway situations.
• Set up and manage non-invasive monitoring equipment.
• Assist with discharge planning concerning respiratory-related DME supplies.
• Adhere to safety standards, regulatory requirements, and institutional care guidelines.
• Collect arterial blood gas samples for analysis and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
• Function as the Shift Coordinator after one year of employment and assist in the training of orientees and students.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Relevant certifications and licensure for respiratory therapy are required.
