Registered Nurse (RN) - Night Shift

Night shift, 3x12.0 hours per week.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees. The role emphasizes patient and employee safety and adheres to the Select Medical Way and Core Values.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission and develop individualized care plans.
• Identify teaching needs related to each patient’s diagnosis and collaborate with patients/families and the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide timely patient status updates for team conferences and ensure accurate documentation of assessments and interventions.
• Initiate discharge planning on all patients from the day of admission and begin patient teaching in anticipation of discharge.
• Communicate changes in patient status promptly to ensure continuity of care.
• Provide direction, training, and supervision of ancillary nursing personnel, utilizing effective time management and prioritization skills.
• Maintain personal and environmental safety in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Participate in the unit’s functioning and contribute to a positive work environment through team-building activities.
• Assume charge responsibilities upon completing the orientation period as requested.
• Pursue ongoing professional development through continuing education and self-study.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to the first shift.
• ACLS required prior to the first shift (CIRH only).
• Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience.
