Registered Nurse - Perioperative Nursing
Job Description
The Registered Nurse specializing in perioperative nursing practice during intraoperative surgical experiences is responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the operating room and other areas of perioperative services for all patient populations. The perioperative nurse acts as the patient advocate and is responsible for the direction and supervision of any personnel assigned to them. This position requires on-call rotations for the Surgery Unit.
Responsibilities
- Implement the plan of care by protecting the patient from various sources of injury.
- Perform accounting procedures to prevent unintended retained surgical items.
- Ensure correct site, side, and level for procedures are maintained.
- Manage patient specimens according to organizational policies.
- Communicate the patient’s status to relevant parties throughout the continuum of care.
- Administer medications safely and correctly.
- Maintain wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels.
- Protect patients from surgical site infections.
- Provide age-specific, culturally competent, and ethical care.
- Document nursing care accurately and legibly.
- Collaborate effectively with other disciplines.
- Utilize problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring privacy and confidentiality.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Education: Associate of Science in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: Current RN license in State of Oregon, BLS, ACLS, & PALS Certification required; CNOR, Peri-op 101, CRASE training preferred.
- Experience: None required; Previous RN circulator experience and scrub experience preferred.
Schedule
This position operates on a day shift schedule and requires participation in on-call rotations.
