Job Description

The competent Nurse, within the pediatric ICU, practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. The role involves providing both routine and complex care, with a focus on developing long-range goals and plans. The Nurse continues to enhance their ability to manage contingencies in clinical nursing and delegates appropriate responsibilities to other care providers to effectively manage the clinical situation.

Responsibilities

• Empower self and others by meeting the expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Deliver nursing care by following the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families according to established practice levels.
• Administer medications and treatments according to protocols, monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and educate patients, family members, and caregivers while identifying issues and available resources.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred.
• 1 year of experience in pediatric nursing specialty preferred.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required (AHA only).
• RN License in the state of Texas or compact required.
• Ventilator and pediatric ICU experience mandatory.
