Schedule

SPD operations cover 6am – 9pm Monday through Friday, with Sat-Sun on call from 6am-6pm. Seeking primarily 12:30pm-9:00pm Monday - Friday, with occasional 6:00am-2:30pm shifts to cover sick calls. Weekend rotation will depend on operations and staff availability.

Job Description

We are seeking a sterile processing technician who is passionate about teamwork, patient safety, and instrument excellence. As part of our Sterile Processing Department, you will play a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality surgical services by ensuring all surgical instruments and medical equipment are meticulously cleaned, sterilized, and ready for use.

Responsibilities

• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments, orthopedic sets, and equipment.
• Inspect, clean, and reprocess endoscopes manually and automated using AER.
• Inspect, assemble, and wrap instrument trays for surgical procedures.
• Operate autoclaves, Vpro max, AER, and other sterilization equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes.
• Ensure proper functioning of equipment through daily, weekly, and monthly routine checks and logs.
• Assemble surgery case carts with supplies in a timely manner.
• Retrieve supplies, stock, and rotate following FIFO (first in, first out).
• Follow AAMI, AORN, OSHA, and facility-specific protocols.
• Assist OR staff, departments, and outer clinics with sterilization needs to ensure timely readiness of sterile supplies.
• Follow all hospital infection control and safety standards.
• Stay up to date with best practices, equipment servicing, and all required education.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified through CRCST or CBSPD.
• At least 2 years of recent experience in a sterile processing department in a hospital or surgical center.
