This is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, Days, on call/callback, holidays per unit needs (5x8hrs). Must be able to report within 30 minutes to on-call shifts.
Job Description
The X-Ray Technologist will be responsible for verifying patients' identities, reviewing physician orders, and utilizing x-ray equipment to capture radiographic images. This role involves explaining procedures to patients, positioning them appropriately, and maintaining safety standards while producing high-quality diagnostic images for radiologist interpretation.
Responsibilities
- Verify patient identity and review physician orders prior to procedures.
- Utilize x-ray equipment to capture images as per physician instructions.
- Explain x-ray procedures to patients and address their inquiries.
- Position patients correctly, including assisting those with limited mobility.
- Ensure radiation safety and keep patient exposure as low as possible.
- Observe and interpret patient information to meet age-specific needs.
- Report any damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment promptly.
- Utilize electronic patient information systems accurately.
- Maintain precise patient record-keeping for image identification and PACS system submission.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
- Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Active NYS license or ability to obtain before starting.
- Minimum of 2 years of X-ray Technologist experience.
- Experience in Level 1 trauma centers preferred.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
- Experience using c-arm/o-arm within the last 8 months.
- Ability to lift and move patients and stand for extended periods.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills and a patient, compassionate disposition.
- Ability to work as a team player in a cohesive environment.
