Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientation staff.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans.
• Identify teaching needs and goals related to patient diagnoses by collaborating with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide timely updates on patient status during Initial and Re-evaluation Team Conferences.
• Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record accurately and succinctly.
• Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and provide direct patient care using the nursing process.
• Initiate discharge planning on the day of admission and commence patient teaching ahead of discharge.
• Ensure continuity of care by effectively communicating changes in patient status to appropriate care providers.
• Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel, delegating tasks appropriately.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients and employees in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Promote a positive and efficient work environment through team building and effective communication.
• Assume charge responsibilities as requested after the orientation period.
• Engage in professional development through continuing education and self-study.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to the first shift.
• ACLS certification required prior to the first shift (for CIRH only).
• Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience required.
• ICU experience is preferred but not mandatory.
