Job Description

Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs Radiologic procedures for the evaluation of pathological entities as ordered by a physician, utilizing independent judgment to determine appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for examinations.
• Review clinical data and perform appropriate examinations, obtaining additional information as necessary.
• Prepare procedure rooms and replenish stock such as linen and related supplies.
• Analyze anatomical structures, set up equipment, and perform Radiologic procedures.
• Select and administer intravenous contrast media as needed, monitoring patients for reactions.
• Demonstrate principles of radiation protection and follow infection control practices.
• Document all necessary work sheets and patient records accurately.
• Resolve image exceptions and ensure high-quality image delivery into PACS.
• Complete study indexing in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
• Review clinical protocols with Radiologist before performing studies.
• Mentor and educate new hires and students as needed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Must be registered in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or registry eligible.
• If registry eligible, must obtain registry within 6 months of hire.
• Healthcare Provider certification (BCLS) is required.
• Minimum of 2 years experience and Level I or II trauma experience is preferred.
