Job Description

A qualified histotechnician will assume responsibility for the processing, embedding, cutting, and staining of surgical and autopsy tissue, as well as preparing and staining cytopathology specimens according to established policies and procedures for the Pathologist's examination and interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Correctly manage patient body tissue by preparing microscopic sections for diagnosis.
• Document and maintain supplies and equipment.
• Perform specialized, selective techniques required for diagnostic purposes.
• Participate in the Quality Assurance program.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, Biology, or Chemistry or HTL certification from a recognized agency.
• Histotechnician AAS NY State license required.
