Job Description
The OR Nurse Manager works with the Surgical Services leadership team and hospital nursing supervisor to coordinate departmental activities over a 24-hour period. They are responsible for supervising the intraoperative nursing care provided to patients undergoing operative or invasive procedures. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the medical/legal and accreditation aspects of nursing and includes the direct supervision of RNs, LPNs, Scrub Technologists, Perioperative Aides, CNAs, and unit clerks.
Responsibilities
- Manage the OR areas both operationally and fiscally.
- Assist in developing the operational and capital budget.
- Ensure safe patient care is provided by OR personnel.
- Incorporate evidence-based practices into patient care.
- Evaluate practice and create strategies for improvement.
- Coordinate educational resources and enforce attendance accountability.
- Manage changes within the OR effectively.
- Demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Collect and analyze data for performance improvement.
- Apply effective conflict resolution techniques.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team planning for OR patient care.
- Evaluate OR personnel performance and conduct interviews.
- Ensure availability of OR personnel, equipment, and supplies.
- Verify compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Provide guidance and constructive feedback to the surgical team.
- Maintain nursing guidelines and update policies and procedures.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required; Master of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Oregon required.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, & TNCC certifications are required.
- CNOR certification is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in operating room or ambulatory surgery center.
- Experience in specialties such as robotics, ortho, urology, general surgery, GYN, neuro, ERCP, and vascular is required.
- Previous managerial experience and ION robot experience are preferred.
