Job Description

The OR Nurse Manager works with the Surgical Services leadership team and hospital nursing supervisor to coordinate departmental activities over a 24-hour period. They are responsible for supervising the intraoperative nursing care provided to patients undergoing operative or invasive procedures. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the medical/legal and accreditation aspects of nursing and includes the direct supervision of RNs, LPNs, Scrub Technologists, Perioperative Aides, CNAs, and unit clerks.

Responsibilities

• Manage the OR areas both operationally and fiscally.
• Assist in developing the operational and capital budget.
• Ensure safe patient care is provided by OR personnel.
• Incorporate evidence-based practices into patient care.
• Evaluate practice and create strategies for improvement.
• Coordinate educational resources and enforce attendance accountability.
• Manage changes within the OR effectively.
• Demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Collect and analyze data for performance improvement.
• Apply effective conflict resolution techniques.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team planning for OR patient care.
• Evaluate OR personnel performance and conduct interviews.
• Ensure availability of OR personnel, equipment, and supplies.
• Verify compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Provide guidance and constructive feedback to the surgical team.
• Maintain nursing guidelines and update policies and procedures.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required; Master of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Oregon required.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, & TNCC certifications are required.
• CNOR certification is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in operating room or ambulatory surgery center.
• Experience in specialties such as robotics, ortho, urology, general surgery, GYN, neuro, ERCP, and vascular is required.
• Previous managerial experience and ION robot experience are preferred.
