36 or 48 hours per week, DEN rotation, including weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.

Job Description

The Adult Cardiac OR is responsible for a wide variety of patients, including those undergoing CABG, TAVI, and heart failure procedures such as VADs, ECMO, artificial heart, and heart transplants. The Surgical Technologist provides technical knowledge in preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures and assists the surgical team from the scrub position during operations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper care and handling of instruments.
• Facilitate room turnover between cases.
• Maintain sterile technique and safe handling of sharps.
• Perform surgical counts as per hospital policy.
• Demonstrate proper handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents under the direction of a registered nurse.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• NBSTSA Certification or 10 years of experience as a Surgical Technician.
• Two (2) years of recent experience in a cardiac OR.
• BLS Certification from the American Heart Association.
• Able to scrub and circulate; operating room experience in a level 1 trauma center is preferred.
