Job Description
The Registered Nurse provides direct care to patients using the nursing process, which includes ongoing assessment of the total patient. The RN offers interventions for treatment of presenting symptoms and evaluates the impact of nursing interventions and patient responses. The RN operates as a team leader/member and serves as a resource for others, delegating, overseeing, and providing direction to support staff. Collaboration with the interdisciplinary team is essential to establish goals and outcomes for each patient, ensuring that the needs of all types of patients are met.
Responsibilities
- Regularly assess patient needs and deliver skilled nursing services as directed by the physician's plan of care and accepted standards of evidence-based nursing practice.
- Provide direct patient care including medication administration, treatments, education, and assistance with transfers, while responding to alarms and call lights.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment plan and collaborate with team members to update or revise the plan using current information to enhance patient care.
- Maintain knowledge and compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations and hospital-specific policies and procedures.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- 2+ years of nursing experience in a Neuro PCU setting is required.
- Recent travel work history is highly preferred.
- Active Michigan RN license required.
- Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
- NIHSS certification is required.
- Completion of 2 supervisory reference forms within the last two years is required.
- Skills checklist pertinent to the specialty (PCU) is required.
