Job Description

Under the direction of the laboratory manager, the Medical Technologist is responsible for performing laboratory tests, implementing quality control procedures, and communicating effectively with physicians, nurses, and patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of laboratory tests accurately and efficiently.
• Conduct quality control procedures to ensure reliable test results.
• Communicate laboratory results and findings to healthcare professionals.
• Provide direction and support to Medical Laboratory Assistants.
• Maintain laboratory instruments and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field required.
• Board eligible by NCA or ASCP with certification to be completed within one year of employment.
• One to three years of relevant experience in chemistry, blood bank, hematology, and microbiology or a formal student internship.
• Certification as MT by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or CLS by National Accrediting Agency (NCA) within one year of employment.
• Must possess clinical laboratory instrumentation knowledge.
• Must be capable of working independently.
