Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by assuring that the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while promoting safety and quality outcomes for patients and employees.
Responsibilities
- Conduct nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission, forming the basis of an individualized plan of care.
- Identify teaching needs and goals related to patients' diagnoses, collaborating with patients, families, and the Interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely updates regarding patient information and status during team conferences.
- Utilize the nursing process of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care with a focus on patient education.
- Initiate discharge planning on all patients from the day of admission, preparing patients and families for a smooth transition.
- Communicate changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care and support patient safety.
- Provide direction, training, and supervision of ancillary nursing personnel while ensuring personal and environmental safety.
- Maintain effective communication with management regarding service needs, supplies, and clinical training.
- Assume charge responsibility as requested following the orientation period.
- Actively seek professional development through continuing education and self-study.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS certification required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY).
- Minimum two (2) years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
- Critical care experience is required.
