Job Description

Under general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the Respiratory Therapist delivers life-support, resuscitation, monitoring, and various medical gases therapy to patients. The role includes performing invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures for patients in Intensive Care and General Practice Units, maintaining clinical expertise across various business units, and effectively communicating patient care needs with various stakeholders. This position also includes supervising and directing other Respiratory Therapists, externs, and students as assigned, along with accurately documenting all aspects of patient care and billing information.

Responsibilities

• Deliver life-support and resuscitation therapy
• Administer medical gases to patients
• Perform diagnostic procedures in Intensive Care and General Practice Units
• Supervise and direct Respiratory Therapists and students
• Document patient care and billing information accurately
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and staff regarding care needs

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Associate of Science Degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care
• Current Respiratory Therapist License in the State of Michigan
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• At least 1.5 years of experience in an ICU or floor setting
• ABG competency is required
• NRP, Pediatric ICU, and Neonatal experience are preferred
• Cerner experience is preferred
• Experience with Puritan 980 machine, Hamilton Transport, and Servo U is preferred
