Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN will supervise Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission.
• Identify patient teaching needs and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide timely patient information for initial and reevaluation team conferences.
• Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and succinctly.
• Participate in the patient rehabilitation program, focusing on education for patients and families.
• Initiate discharge planning on the day of admission and begin patient teaching.
• Communicate changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care and safety.
• Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel, providing direction and organizing tasks.
• Contribute positively to unit dynamics and support team building activities.
• Maintain communication with the manager regarding service needs and clinical training.
• Assume charge responsibility as requested after the orientation period.
• Seek professional growth and pursue continuing education opportunities.
• Develop and implement effective plans to meet patient needs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
• ACLS required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY).
• Minimum two (2) years bedside clinical experience highly desired.
