Primarily day shift, hours vary according to the OR schedule. On-call hours may be required.

Job Description

The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) provides necessary support to the OR, PACU, and Day Surgery areas. The CST is responsible for maintaining assigned areas in a clean and sanitary state, assisting with the preparation of equipment and supplies for procedures, and performing other clerical or non-nursing administrative duties as required by the Director or designee.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of assigned areas by adhering to department cleaning procedures.
• Assist staff with preparation of necessary equipment and supplies for surgical procedures.
• Perform administrative duties related to the department as assigned.
• Collaborate with surgical staff and physicians effectively.
• Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director or designee.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists is required.
• Minimum one year of hospital surgical background is preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
• Successful completion of a Surgical Technologist Course or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of asepsis and sterile techniques.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds from floor to waist and push/pull equipment as necessary.
• Sound judgment and decision-making skills consistent with the knowledge and skills of a Surgical Technologist.
