Job Description

The Cath Lab Registered Nurse provides comprehensive care to patients before, during, and after angiography, interventional, and cardiac catheterization procedures. This includes pre-procedure assessments, medication administration, documentation, post-procedure care, and patient education. The nurse will scrub in for procedures and assist other members in the cardiac catheterization laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing care for catheterization and angiography cardiovascular patients, conducting cardiac diagnostic procedures according to department protocol.
• Assist with prep, procedure, and recovery for interventional radiology procedures.
• Conduct patient evaluations and screenings for safety prior to testing.
• Provide sedation monitoring as per hospital policy and document appropriately.
• Insert PICC lines and function as a vascular access expert.
• Operate various equipment and manage supplies related to cardiac procedures.
• Record pertinent information and contribute to patient education materials and programs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 1+ years of experience as a Cath Lab RN - required.
• Interventional Radiology experience - preferred.
• Electrophysiology experience - preferred.
• Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation knowledge - preferred.
• Knowledge of operation of intra-aortic balloon pumps - preferred.
• Active Michigan nursing license required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications - required.
