Job Description

The competent Nurse, in a clinical setting, practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. Provides routine and complex care, focusing on long-range goals and plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing and effectively delegates responsibilities to other care providers as needed.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provides nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administers medications and treatments; monitors for side-effects and treatment effectiveness.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identifies issues and resources.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred.
• 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
• BLS certification required (AHA only).
• Active RN License in the state of Texas or Compact.
