Job Description

The Registered Nurse specializing in perioperative nursing practice performs nursing activities in the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases of the patient's surgical experience. They ensure the provision of quality care for surgical patients through the utilization of the nursing process, established standards of care, policies, and procedures. The perioperative nurse acts as the patient advocate and is responsible for the direction and supervision of any personnel assigned to them. The RN reports to the Unit Nurse Manager, House Supervisor, or RN Team Leader. Agency nurses will be floated to other departments where they are qualified to perform patient care before core staff is floated.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care in the perioperative setting.
• Act as the patient advocate throughout the surgical experience.
• Ensure adherence to established standards of care and policies.
• Supervise personnel and coordinate patient care activities.
• Participate in on-call rotation as required.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Experience in perioperative nursing preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
