Job Description

The Surgical Technologist assists during surgical procedures by ensuring and maintaining the integrity of a sterile surgical field and providing instrumentation as needed to the surgical team. This role participates in unit activities that assure high levels of quality related to patient care and functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Possesses expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique.
• Checks all items for proper packaging, processing, moisture, seal and packaging integrity, and expiration dates.
• Monitors sterile field for contamination and initiates corrective action as needed.
• Assists with patient transport, room turnovers, and room preparation.
• Maintains knowledge of new technologies and procedures, including instrumentation and equipment.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Models professional behavior and communicates effectively with the perioperative team.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and/or Licensed Surgical Technologist License(s).
• Licensed as a Surgical Technologist in the state of Colorado required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
• Working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking.
