Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed. Responsible for evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, the therapist educates patients regarding the purpose and procedures for treatments, tests, and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, oxygen devices, and nebulizer devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography as per policy.
• Review patient's chest x-rays to determine the need for further evaluation.
• Perform 12-Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition.
• Assist with respiratory care procedures as per policy.
• Perform tracheostomy care and arterial punctures according to policy.
• Operate, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation.
• Document patient treatment and responses accurately.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare team members regarding patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Licensed Respiratory Therapist.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
