Job Description

The Registered Respiratory Therapist assesses patients' respiratory care needs and plans, organizes, performs, and evaluates treatment modalities to meet those needs. The role ensures the very best patient/family experience by optimizing all customer interactions, with a preference for candidates having NICU experience.

Responsibilities

• Consistently performs and documents thorough patient assessments.
• Establishes appropriate care plans and communicates with other members of the patient care team.
• Performs and documents routine therapeutic modalities including aerosolized medications and oxygen therapy.
• Initiates and manages mechanical ventilators according to established protocols.
• Provides appropriate, age-specific education to patients and families regarding disease management.
• Assists in intra-hospital transport of mechanically ventilated patients.
• Responsible for acute airway management in emergent situations.
• Sets up and manages non-invasive monitoring equipment.
• Assists with discharge planning for patients needing respiratory-related supplies.
• Adheres to regulatory requirements and safety standards.
• Functions as the Shift Coordinator when designated and assists in clinical procedure support.
• Acts as a preceptor for new staff and students during their clinical rotations.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• PA License
• BLS Certification
• ACLS Certification
• PALS Certification
• Graduate from Specialty Training Program
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC)
• Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program and S.T.A.B.L.E.
