Labor and Delivery Nurse

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Shifts are 12 hours, operating from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM. Weekend requirements include 3 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule, typically on Friday/Saturday nights or Saturday/Sunday days. There are also holiday requirements, including at least 2 out of 3 major holidays.

Job Description

The Labor and Delivery Nurse will provide care for patients 28 weeks and above, addressing a range of conditions such as hypertension and care for patients with no prenatal care. Ideal candidates will have experience in a busy labor and delivery environment, managing an average of 9 births per day.

Responsibilities

• Perform vaginal exams and fetal monitoring.
• Assist in Cesarean sections and newborn transitions.
• Manage post-partum hemorrhage and administer epidurals.
• Titrate IV drips including magnesium, pitocin, and insulin.
• Provide care for antepartum patients as needed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active BLS and NRP certifications.
• AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification.
• Experience with vaginal exams and newborn care.
• Spanish language skills are a plus.
• Previous experience in labor and delivery is strongly preferred.
