Job Description

Under general supervision, the Computed Tomography Technologist specializes in performing computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients and may also perform general diagnostic radiology examinations.

Responsibilities

• Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for examinations.
• Review clinical data and perform appropriate examinations.
• Prepare procedure rooms and replenish necessary supplies regularly.
• Analyze anatomical structures, set up equipment, and perform CT scans.
• Manually control equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information.
• Administer intravenous contrast media and monitor patients for reactions.
• Assist Radiologist in sterile diagnostic procedures like biopsies.
• Ensure all imaging procedures adhere to radiation protection principles.
• Resolve image exceptions and ensure quality delivery into PACS.
• Complete study indexing in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
• Document all necessary information in medical records and radiology systems.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must maintain required hours of continued medical education.
• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or registry-eligible.
• BLS certification required.
