Med/Surg Nurse

Job Description

Med/Surg Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. Responsibilities include consulting and coordinating with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans; preparing and administering prescribed medications; educating patients on surgical procedures; and providing bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgery patients.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, interpreting and recording electronic displays.
• Initiate corrective actions for adverse symptoms and provide bedside care.
• Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs as needed.
• Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and treatments.
• Participate in discharge planning and patient education initiatives.
• Record all patient care information accurately and promptly.
• Respond to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocols.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have an ID RN or multi-state compact license.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required.
• Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg experience in a hospital setting.

Schedule

This position requires a shift from 19:00 to 07:00.
