Job Description

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse provides direct and indirect patient care in the emergency care setting. The RN is expected to demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and responsibility in their role with minimal supervision. Tasks include safe, rapid, and accurate triaging of patients based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as overseeing factors influencing patient flow through the system. The RN will communicate effectively with ER Physicians and APP providers regarding changes in patient status, symptoms, and results of diagnostic studies. The role requires quick and accurate responses to changes in patient condition or treatment response, working cooperatively with patients, families, physicians, APP providers, allied health staff, and other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

• Triage patients safely and accurately based on urgent needs.
• Communicate patient status changes to appropriate medical staff.
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition or treatment responses.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care.
• Provide direction to Emergency Department techs and registration staff.
