Job Description

The Intermediate Care Unit (IMU) is a 30-bed unit consisting of 14 private and 16 semi-private rooms. Nurses are expected to provide high-quality care to patients with moderate to severe acuity. The unit typically operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio goal of 1:4, although it often runs at 1:5 or 1:6. Staff must be able to interpret telemetry strips and titrate various medications as needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient care for individuals with conditions such as chest pain, heart failure, and arrhythmias.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including hospitalists and respiratory therapy professionals, to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Handle IV medications and ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Work with various telemonitoring equipment and interpret telemetry strips.
• Participate in unit orientation and assist with the training of new staff members.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current RN licensure.
• Certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Ability to work closely with healthcare teams and adhere to unit policies.
