Job Description

The Medical Surgical Nurse is responsible for preparing, administering, and recording prescribed medications. The role involves changing dressings, inserting catheters, and starting IVs. The nurse will also adjust specialized medical equipment as needed and interpret and record measurements. Monitoring patients' vitals and reporting any adverse reactions to medications in a timely manner are crucial responsibilities of this position.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications.
• Change dressings and insert catheters.
• Start IVs and adjust specialized medical equipment as necessary.
• Monitor patients' vital signs.
• Report adverse reactions to medications promptly.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• At least 1 year of Medical Surgical experience is required.
• Recent traveler experience is highly preferred.
• Current OK State License or compact certification.
• BLS certification from AHA and NIH certification are required.
• Skills Checklist, current to 1 year, pertinent to the specialty.
• Two Supervisory Reference Forms, taken within the last two years.
