Job Description

The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing mammography examinations following ACR requirements. This position assists with breast ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, breast localization, and other radiologic guided procedures performed within the Breast Center. The technologist performs diagnostic and screening mammographic examinations on adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients in an expedient and professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Perform mammographic imaging for breast needle localization procedures and stereotactic procedures, including set up and clean up.
• Assist in procedures using ultrasound guidance.
• Provide immobilization devices, select proper technical factors based on individual patient needs, and operate equipment for specific procedures.
• Identify patient films with the correct name and details, and develop exposed films.
• Assist with quality control procedures and document relevant metrics.
• Perform patient education, including BSE instruction and pre/post-procedure instructions.
• Document pertinent information in the Breast Center chart.
• Identify and deliver care specific to the needs of the patient population served.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum 2 years prior experience as a Licensed Mammography Technologist.
• Must have ARRT certification and an active Diagnostic Radiography License.
• Mammography certification must be obtained within the first three months of employment.
