Cardiac Telemetry Registered Nurse - Stepdown/PCU
Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, and the alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response and through advocacy in the care of individuals and families. The RN is responsible and accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act, United Health Services policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care in managing a group of patients.
- Educate patients and families in health promotion and disease management using available resources.
- Utilize knowledge of pharmacology and safely administer medications according to policy.
- Share in responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization.
- Comply with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies.
- Actively participate in and support the Nursing Shared Governance Model.
- Engage in professional development and complete all mandatory education requirements.
- Integrate nursing research and current evidence into practice.
- Provide a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current NYS RN License.
- BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
- Minimum six months of RN experience in a cardiac telemetry department.
- Experience with TAVR, Watchman, mitral clips, heart catheterizations, preop/post-op open heart care.
- Proficient in managing cardiac IV and PO, cardiac drips, anticoagulants, CHF, arrhythmias, NSTEMI, STEMI, PE, post-op CABG, Sepsis, PNA, Stroke, observation patients.
Schedule
This is a 13-week contract position, requiring 36 hours per week with every other weekend.
