Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Schedule

Night Shift: Sunday night through Thursday night, 19:00 – 07:30.

Job Description

As a Registered Nurse in this specialized role, you will provide inpatient-level nursing care to patients boarding in the Emergency Department while awaiting transfer to an inpatient bed. Your work will enhance patient safety, throughput, and continuity of care during high hospital census periods.

Responsibilities

• Care for admitted boarder patients specifically located within the Emergency Department.
• Maintain a patient ratio of up to 2 patients (2:1) with varying acuity.
• Administer care to patients requiring ventilators, vasoactive infusions, or other critical care needs.
• Collaborate with ED physicians, hospitalists, ICU teams, and inpatient services.
• Potentially provide temporary care in another unit within clinical competency if departmental needs arise.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Recent critical care experience required.
• Competency with ventilators, drips, and high-acuity patients preferred.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.

Work Environment

Fast-paced Emergency Department setting with support staff available based on ED resources.
