X-Ray Technologist

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Mon - Friday Day shift, 8 hour shifts, on call, callback and holidays per unit needs. Must be able to report within 30 minutes to on call shifts, with 2-3 call shifts required per month.

Job Description

The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for producing diagnostic imaging as per physician's orders. The role includes patient interaction, positioning patients for procedures, and ensuring the safety and quality of images produced.

Responsibilities

• Verify patients' identity and review physicians' orders before beginning x-ray procedures.
• Use x-ray equipment to take radiographic images of patients' bones, tissues, and organs.
• Explain x-ray procedures to patients and address their questions.
• Position patients appropriately, including assisting those with limited mobility.
• Handle radiologic equipment safely, ensuring minimal radiation exposure.
• Observe patient status and adjust procedures to meet age-specific needs.
• Produce high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation by the Radiologist.
• Report any damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment to management promptly.
• Utilize electronic patient information systems to maintain accurate records and ensure proper identification of images.
• Practices dual patient identifier procedure for safety and accuracy.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• New York State license (or ability to obtain prior to starting).
• A minimum of 2 years of X-ray Technologist experience, preferably in a Level 1 trauma center.
• Experience using C-arm/O-arm within the last 8 months.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
