X-Ray Technologist

Schedule

Friday - Sunday; 8am - 8:30pm EST, on call, callback and holidays per unit needs. Must be able to report within 30 minutes to on-call shifts, with 2-3 call shifts per month.

Job Description

The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for providing high-quality radiographic images for diagnostic purposes. This role includes verifying patient identities, explaining procedures, and ensuring patient safety throughout the imaging process.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient identity and review physician's orders prior to x-ray procedures.
• Utilize x-ray equipment to produce radiographic images of bones, tissues, and organs.
• Explain x-ray procedures to patients and address their questions.
• Position patients appropriately, including assisting those with limited mobility.
• Maintain safe handling of radiologic equipment and keep radiation exposure to a minimum.
• Observe patients' statuses and interpret relevant information to meet age-specific needs.
• Produce diagnostic images for interpretation by a radiologist.
• Notify management of any damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment.
• Utilize electronic patient information systems for accurate patient record keeping.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• New York State license (or ability to obtain prior to starting).
• Minimum of 2 years of X-ray Technologist experience, with Level 1 trauma center experience.
• Must have recent OR experience and experience using c-arm or o-arm within the past 8 months.
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
