Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport as medically prescribed. This role involves evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, conducting physician-prescribed treatments, and providing necessary education to patients upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans.
• Conduct physician-prescribed routine treatments using various ventilatory equipment, oxygen, and aerosol devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal).
• Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Review patients' chest x-rays to determine the need for further evaluation.
• Perform 12-Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition.
• Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist with respiratory care procedures as per policy.
• Provide tracheostomy care and perform arterial punctures per policy.
• Document all treatments and patient responses accurately in patient records.
• Communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficiency.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging and documentation.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Must hold a current and valid Respiratory Therapy license and relevant certifications. Experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
