Registered Nurse - Med/Surg (Nights)

Schedule

This is a night shift position from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Weekend and On Call requirements are present, with 2 to 4 shifts rotated between staff monthly.

Job Description

The competent Nurse practices independently in a clinical setting and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. Provides routine and complex care while focusing on long-range goals. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage clinical contingencies. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates responsibilities to other care providers to effectively manage clinical situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice.
• Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identify issues and resources.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Med/Surg specialty preferred.
• Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license required.
• BLS Certification via AHA required.
