Schedule / Shift

This position is for 3-12 hour shifts weekly. Primarily Monday to Friday dayshift; may rotate to weekends and night shifts as needed. There is a requirement of approximately 20 hours of call per schedule period.

Job Description

The PACU Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. The nurse will rotate throughout Pre-op, PACU, and Phase II, caring for both adult and pediatric patients undergoing a variety of surgeries.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient status and vital signs during recovery from anesthesia.
• Administer medications and provide nursing care as needed.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Educate patients and families about postoperative care and recovery.
• Directly manage patient care during various phases including Pre-op, PACU, and Phase II.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
• Prior PACU experience is essential, with preference for Level 1 trauma experience.
• Experience with EMR systems, specifically EPIC, is preferred.
