Job Description

The RN in Med/Surg delivers independent nursing care, demonstrating skill and clinical judgment in providing both routine and complex patient care. This role involves setting long-range goals for patient care, managing contingencies in clinical nursing, and making appropriate assignments to support other healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients and their families.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
• Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license required.
• BLS Certification via AHA required.
