Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse

Job Description

This is a high-level, high-functioning Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position, focusing on the management and care of multiple long-term patients. The selected nurse will demonstrate proficiency in patient care practices, management of dysrhythmias, and the interpretation of telemetry data.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient care in a 1:5 ratio within a 34-bed telemetry monitored unit.
• Administer medications and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips as necessary.
• Perform peripheral line care and management of PICC lines.
• Participate in the management and interpretation of dysrhythmias.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, and Rapid Response Teams.
• Provide care for patients with a variety of diagnoses, including stroke and renal disorders.

Schedule

This position requires a flexible schedule including 3x12-hour shifts from 7 AM to 7:30 PM, with weekend and holiday rotations.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active RN license in hand at submission.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a PCU setting; first-time travelers are accepted.
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications are required.
• Experience with cardiac telemetry and the management of dysrhythmias.
• EPIC charting system experience is preferred.
