Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of their professional license and with minimal supervision. The role includes evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, explaining procedures, and providing education upon patient discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine treatments using various ventilatory and oxygen devices, and nebulizers.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Review patient's chest x-rays to determine further evaluation needs.
• Conduct pulmonary function studies and other respiratory care procedures.
• Assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
• Perform tracheostomy care and arterial punctures according to policy.
• Record patient responses and report necessary information during hand-offs.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging and documentation.
• Perform CPR according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Candidates must hold a valid Respiratory Therapist license and necessary certifications relevant to the practice.
