Laboratory Technologist

Job Description

The Laboratory Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and accurately reporting results to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of diseases. This role involves direct patient interactions through phlebotomy and contributes to the general operation and quality assurance of the laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex tests across various laboratory areas including hematology, immunohematology, immunology, bacteriology, and routine chemistry.
• Execute phlebotomies including arterial, capillary, and venipunctures based on patient requirements.
• Process specimens and perform quality control and preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments.
• Validate and report test results in a timely and accurate manner.
• Assist in developing and maintaining laboratory policies and procedural manuals.
• Participate in the orientation and training of students and new employees.
• Research and develop new laboratory procedures as assigned.
• Adhere to safety practices and quality improvement initiatives.

This position is for the Day Shift.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field.
• Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or eligibility for certification.
• Knowledge of medical technology principles, methods, equipment, and techniques.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
