Job Description
The Catheterization Laboratory Technician II is an experienced member of the cath lab team, proficient in supporting a wide range of diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. This role involves meticulous preparation of the lab, equipment, and supplies, ensuring accurate patient documentation, and maintaining stringent sterile technique throughout procedures. The Technician II also serves as a valuable resource and preceptor for junior technicians and technologists, sharing expertise in advanced procedures and technology while upholding the highest standards of patient safety and departmental efficiency.
Responsibilities

- Ensure major equipment is operational in assigned area(s) and document as required for quality control; report any issues through the chain of command.
- Participate in daily room checks and stocking of supplies.
- Access daily patient schedule and appropriate patient information for assigned procedures.
- Ensure appropriate equipment, supplies, and room configuration for all procedures.
- Collaborate with procedure team and Cath Lab Lead/Coordinator to ensure appropriate patient care and departmental efficiency at all times.
- Ensure proper patient information is entered into cath lab computer and imaging systems.
- Maintain proper procedure documentation, hemodynamic measurements/recording, and ECG recognition during assigned procedures.
- Ensure patient position is appropriate and safely secured on procedure table per procedure type.
- Train and complete competencies to set up and operate cath lab equipment including imaging and other cardiovascular devices.
- Support and anticipate the needs of the physician and ensure patient safety when scrubbing procedures.
- Adhere to aseptic technique 100% of the time during procedures.
- Collaborate and share knowledge on the team to foster teamwork and cohesion.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Associate's degree in cardiovascular technology, radiologic technology, or a healthcare-related field preferred.
- 2 years of Diagnostic, Interventional Radiology, or Cath/EPLab experience is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required to work/perform independently at pediatric facilities.
- Certification in one of the following is required: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), or other relevant certifications.
