Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by ensuring that the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees, focusing on patient and employee safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission, which will form the basis of individualized care plans.
- Identify teaching needs and goals related to each patient's diagnosis by collaborating with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely patient information for Initial and Re-evaluation Team Conferences.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in accordance with policy.
- Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and provide direct patient care utilizing the nursing process.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
- Communicate pertinent patient status changes to ensure continuity of care and support patient safety.
- Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel, delegating responsibilities appropriately.
- Contribute positively to unit functioning and participate in team-building activities.
- Maintain communication with the manager and senior nursing staff regarding service needs.
- Assume charge responsibility as required following orientation.
- Seek professional growth through continuing education and self-study.
- Prioritize activities and time to effectively meet patient needs.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY).
- Minimum two (2) years of bedside clinical experience.
- ICU experience preferred.
Schedule
This position offers a night shift with a 3x12 hour schedule.
