Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a critical role in maintaining the delivery of quality care by assuring that the nursing care plan is effectively followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while promoting a safe and positive environment for patients and staff alike.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission, forming individualized plans of care.
- Identify teaching needs and goals related to each patient's diagnosis through collaboration with the patient/family and interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely patient information for Initial Team Conferences and weekly Re-evaluation Team Conferences.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly in the medical record.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program, ensuring a focus on direct patient care through the nursing process.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient education from the day of admission.
- Communicate changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care.
- Provide direction and training to ancillary nursing personnel, promoting effective delegation.
- Maintain personal and environmental safety in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Contribute positively to unit functioning and participate in team-building activities.
- Assume charge responsibilities as needed after orientation.
- Engage in professional growth through continuing education and self-study.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS Certification required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY).
- Minimum two (2) years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
