Job Description

The competent Nurse in a clinical setting practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. This role includes providing routine and complex care while developing the ability to manage contingencies in clinical nursing. Responsibilities also involve making appropriate assignments and delegating tasks to other care providers to effectively manage the clinical situation.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families according to the level of practice.
• Administer medications and treatments per established protocols; monitor for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Two years of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.
• Current BLS certification required (AHA only).
• Current ACLS certification required (AHA only).
• Valid RN license in the state of Texas or compact.
