Radiation Therapist

Job Description

The Radiation Therapist will administer ionizing radiation and radioactive substances to patients under the supervision of a Radiation Oncologist, following the guidelines of the New York State Department of Health. They will operate high voltage machinery safely and accurately while ensuring the wellbeing of patients and conducting themselves in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Provide radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by a Radiation Oncologist according to established practices and standards.
• Accurately enter and maintain patient treatment parameters into the electronic medical record.
• Interpret computerized treatment plans accurately.
• Observe patients daily for reactions and report any adverse reactions immediately to the Radiation Oncology Nurse or Radiation Oncologist.
• Facilitate complex problem solving regarding technical issues.
• Adhere to NYSDOH, ARRT, and ACRO radiation safety protocols.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must be licensed as a Radiation Therapist in New York (proof of application required).
• Must have ARRT certification.
• Satisfactory completion of a training program in a Radiation Therapy Technology program from an AMA approved school.

Schedule

This position has a shift from 07:30 to 16:00.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
