Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed. The therapist operates within the scope of their professional license and works with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Explain the purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients while providing necessary education upon discharge.
• Administer physician-prescribed treatments operating various ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods.
• Conduct oximetry and capnography monitoring according to policy.
• Review patient's chest x-rays and recommend further evaluations as necessary.
• Execute 12-Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition.
• Perform pulmonary function studies and assist with various respiratory care procedures.
• Ensure proper care in tracheostomy management and arterial punctures.
• Maintain respiratory therapy records, ensuring accurate communication with physicians regarding therapy efficiency.
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Manage ventilation equipment and assist in preventive maintenance and repair.
• Document all pertinent information and responses related to treatments on respiratory care records and patient charts.

Schedule

This is a night shift position following a 3x12 hour schedule.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
