Respiratory Therapist - Weekend Coverage

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport within the facility as medically prescribed. Responsibilities include evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, educating patients about therapies, and conducting various respiratory treatments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician prescribed treatments using various ventilatory, oxygen, and aerosol devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal).
• Monitor oximetry and capnography, and conduct pulmonary function studies.
• Assist in procedures including bronchoscopy and chest tube placements.
• Perform arterial punctures and interpret ventilation efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory testing policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate patient records and communicate changes to the medical team.
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Set up and monitor mechanical ventilation and perform preventive maintenance on equipment.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Valid Respiratory Care License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
