This is a 13-week contract position with a day shift schedule of 3x12 hour shifts.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by assuring the nursing care plan is followed, supervising Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants, and orienting new staff. The RN is committed to patient and employee safety, ensuring adherence to safety policies and procedures while fostering a supportive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform a nursing assessment on all patients within 8 hours of admission.
- Identify teaching needs and goals based on nursing assessments, in collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely patient information and status updates for team conferences.
- Be accountable for accurate documentation of all assessments and interventions in compliance with policies.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program and provide direct patient care utilizing the nursing process.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
- Communicate pertinent patient status changes to support continuity of care.
- Provide direction and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel.
- Ensure personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies.
- Contribute positively to unit functioning and maintain effective communication with management and nursing staff.
- Assume charge responsibilities as needed and pursue professional development opportunities.
- Utilize effective time management in meeting patient needs and priorities.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS certification required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY).
- Minimum of two years of bedside clinical experience required.
- ICU experience or appropriate skills for LTACH is necessary.
